Infiltration foiled, two ultras, SPO killed

Jammu, May 10 (UNI) Security forces foiled an infiltration bid with the killing of two militants in Poonch district while ultras shot dead a Special Police Officer (SPO) and a civilian and injured three others in Doda district today.

A defence spokesman said here this evening, the security arrangements have been strengthened at four Km South West of Mendhar in Poonch district near the Line of Control (LoC).

He said the suspicious movement of two heavily armed terrorists, crossing the LoC, was picked up by surveillance devices. On being challenged, they opened fire and in the ensuing gun battle, both terrorists were gunned down on the spot.

In Doda, the militants fired upon Bilal Ahmed (SPO) while he was guarding a house at Tanta under Gandoh police station.

In another incident, a civilian identified as Gauri Lal died and three others including a constable, were injured in the firing that took place at Kimdur Mugota under Doda police station.

Meanwhile, security forces busted a militant hideout at Amgi Top under Thanamandi police station in Rajouri district and recovered a large number of arms and ammunitions including three IED, 30 rounds AK ammunition, tow radio sets, one UBGL grenade and two decta phone.
