BJP wants white paper on housing scheme

Hyderabad, May 10 (UNI) Former Union Minister and BJP National Secretary B Dattatreya today demanded the state government release a White Paper on Rajiv Gruhakalpa and INDIRAMMA schemes in which the government 'had not allocated' houses to the poor as promised during elections.

Addressing the press here, Mr Dattatreya said the government had allocated only six lakh houses during 2005 and the selection of beneficiaries was not transparent.

Besides, houses allocated under VAMBAY scheme were also not completed, he alleged.

Charging Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy with failure to implement the promises during his two year dispensation in the state, he said Mr Reddy was following the foot steps of Former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu in publicity and adopted the same policies after merely changing the name.

Pointing out the government also failed to get permission and funds for the pending irrigation projects, Mr Dattatraya alleged irregularities in awarding works to contractors.
