Pro-reservationists shout protest against Ratan Tata
Mumbai, May 9 (UNI) A group of students raised slogans against Tata companies chairman Ratan Tata as he was being honoured with Maharashtra Bhushan Award by Governor S M Krishna here this evening.
Half an hour through the function at Ravinder Natya Mandir when the Governor was honouring Mr Tata, at least 10 boys and girls raised slogans.
Kishore Jagtap, claiming to represent OBC Arakshan Sangarsh Samiti, told media persons they had been trying to seek an audience with Mr Tata but in vain.
However, director of Vashinavi Corporate Communication Manoj Warrier said his agency, which handles the Tatas account, has never got a request from any organisation to meet the Tata Group Chairman on the reservation issue.
After the function was over, Mr Tata was escorted out of the hall and he declined to speak to the media.
The protest has come just days after cellular service provider Airtel chief, Sunil Mittal, opposed reservation of jobs in the private sector on behalf of the country's corporates.
