Police seize country-made bombs

Kannur (Kerala), May 9 (UNI) Police today seized eight powerful country-made bombs from an unoccupied building near Thekkalmanal in the city outskirts under the town police station.

Deputy Superintendent of Police K Radhakrishnan told UNI that the bombs, wrapped in a bag, were found on a sunshade.

He said the house owner M Devadasan, while cleaning his house, saw the bag and promptly informed the police. The house remained unoccupied and the owner used to go there occasionally for cleaning.

The bombs were found to have been made with substances like pins, small nails and glass pieces and packed with jute thread.

Mr Radhakrishnan said, on information the bomb disposal squad reached the house and defused the bombs.

He said a special police team has been constituted to scour sensitive areas in the district to unearth country-made bombs and other weapons.
