NCR to automate BPCL's retail project

Mumbai, May 9 (UNI) Global technology major NCR Corporation will partner with State-owned Bharat Petroleum for automating the latter's retail network of 73 outlets across Eastern and Southern parts of the country.

Under this, NCR will install its - Octane-2000 software solution, specifically developed for the fuel retail industry, and will also provide hardware and integration and installation services, a release issued here today said.

The Octane-2000 solution will reduce manual intervention, increase transaction speed and improve customer interactions for BPCL, and the company will be able to monitor and analyse wet stock and dry stock in real time for better inventory management, the release said.

''The integration between head-office and retail network will give Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) total control and monitoring of fuel dispensed from their outlets,'' the release said, adding that ''it will also offer its customers assured fuel quality, more payment options, more relevant loyalty programmes and a system-driven control for correct quantity while dispensing.'' The project involves a complete solution deployment, besides providing BPCL with a total electronic fund transfer solution to handle debit, credit or smart card transactions.

NCR will supply, install and implement the retail automation solution, integrating all NCR and third-party hardware, including forecourt peripherals while the back-office system will be integrated with a radio frequency identification-based tagging system.
