Muslim students welcome proposed reservation

Jaipur, May 9: The Muslim students in Rajasthan have welcomed the proposed 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in higher educational institutes.

Welcoming the proposal by Union Human Resource minister Arjun Singh, national president of Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO), Zameer Qadri, today said. ''It is a right step forward to uplift socially and economically backward sections of our country.'' Expressing concern over the high drop-out rate in minority communities, Mr Qadri urged the government to make sure availability of quality education to all students irrespective of their social and economic conditions.

The SIO also emphasised that the reservation policy should be made more transparent and free from any irregularities.
