MCX index closes at 2,379.77, up 12.37 pts

Mumbai, May 9 (UNI) Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) recorded a turnover of Rs 2,393.18 crore at the close of trading hour today.

The index closed at 2,379.77 up by 12.37 points (0.52 per cent).

The total trades registered were 36,486.

The MCX metal index closed at 2,832.35 up 15.34 points (0.54 per cent), while its agri index was the lone loser and closed at 1,659.91 down 1.92 points (-0.12 per cent). MCX energy index was at 2,647.06 up 23.69 points (0.89 per cent).

The combined MCX bullion registered a turnover of Rs 1,597.85 crore, including various MCX gold Rs 989.18 crore and MCX silver Rs 608.67 crore. The total trades recorded for the MCX bullion were 18,291. The open interest for gold was 10,274 kg, while the outstanding position for silver was 3,18,930 kg.

In the metals segment, MCX copper registered a turnover of Rs 265.96 crore with 5,411 trades, while MCX aluminium and zinc recorded a turnover of Rs 33.21 crore with 515 trades and Rs 56.29 crore with 426 trades respectively.

In the energy segment, crude oil contracts showed a turnover of Rs 98.17 crore with open interest of 8,09,400 BBL.

Turnover of some of the major pulses traded on the MCX were as follows -- urad registered a turnover of Rs 31.35 crore with 756 trades, chana registered a turnover of Rs 70.83 crore with 1,598 trades, tur recorded a turnover of Rs 12.57 crore with 417 trades, and masur registered a turnover of Rs 11.36 crore with 328 trades.

Meanwhile, potato recorded a turnover of Rs 59.07 crore with 2,354 trades, while mentha oil registered a turnover of Rs 26.30 crore with 1,456 trades.

MCX Gold June 06 closed at Rs 10,044 up by Rs 63 (0.63 per cent), while August closed at Rs 10,194 up by Rs 52 (0.51 per cent), and October closed at Rs 10,310 down by Rs seven (-0.07 per cent).

MCX Silver July 06 closed at Rs 21,246 up by Rs 116 (0.55 per cent), September closed at Rs 21,726 up by Rs two (0.01 per cent) and December closed at Rs 22,063 up by Rs 20 (0.09 per cent).
