Mau SP's suspension over riots withdrawn
Lucknow, May 9 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today revoked the suspension of the then Mau SP Akhileshwar Ram Mishra, who was charged with failing to prevent a communal flare-up in the sensitive district.
''While his suspension has been revoked, the departmental action against him will continue,'' secretary (Home) R M Srivastava said here.
Till the time the departmental action continues, Mr Mishra has been attached with the DGP office.
Mishra was charged with failing to take effective steps to prevent riots, which broke out at Mau in October, 2005. The riots had continued for 10 days and had claimed several lives.
