If Left follows ideology, mid-term poll inevitable: CPI(ML)

Ranchi, May 9 (UNI) CPI(ML) General Secretary Deepankar Bhattcharjee today said if the Left parties stick to their "principled stand" on the office of profit issue, it will lead to a mid-term poll in the country.

Mr Bhattacharjee also expressed concern over the different political parties' efforts to amend the existing law in the Parliament session, beginning tomorrow, and added that if it was amended, it should not be implemented in retrospective effect.

Several MPs and MLAs face disqualification on the office of profit issue and the precedent set by the Jaya Bachchan case should be followed he said.

Talking to newspersons here, the CPI(ML) leader hoped that during the session, a proposal to amend the existing law to deal with the issue should not be seen as an attempt to save the guilty.

On the job reservation issue, Mr Bhattacharjee said in higher education institutions, the number of seats should be increaed and hoped that the job reservation proposal would be implemented in the private sector.
