Fool proof security at 82 counting centres

Chennai, May (UNI) Round the clock fool proof security arrangements have been made at all the 82 counting centres located in 60 towns of Tamil Nadu to count the votes of all the 234 assembly constituencies tomorrow for the elections to Tamil Nadu assembly.

Official sources said, a three tier security cover has been provided by the para military forces along with the local police.

Only the staff on duty and the agents would be permitted inside the counting centres.

Sniffer dogs will be pressed into service in some sensitive areas the sources said.

The general public would be permitted only 200 metres away from the counting centres, the sources added.

The counting will commence at 0800 hrs and is expected to conclude before afternoon, they said.

In Chennai, the counting centres will be at the Queen Mary's College, Presidency College, Loyola College and Anna University to count the votes of the 14 assembly constituencies in the city.

Four more counting centres would also be located in the suburbs to count the votes of the assembly constituencies falling in those areas, the sources added.
