Esquire Systems opens offshore development centre

Chennai, May 9: Esquire Systems has launched its new state-of-the-art offshore development centre in the city.

The centre has a seating capacity for 150 IT developers and is expected to be running to full capacity within the next two weeks.

It will work mainly on projects from clients located in the Middle East and India and focus on its banking technology practice.

The centre will be the company's Centre of Excellence in the banking space where the company has its majority of customers.

The centre promised to become one of many in Chennai that signalled the arrival of new players in the offshore development landscape in India.

A total of Rs 3.5 crore investment had gone into the 10,000 sq ft facility, which would act as a development centre and administration office.

Escquire Systems CEO Anil Nair told reporters here the company had been involved in developing applications for a large MNC bank in J2EE and Websphere using the IBM component architecture.

These solutions were being currently implemented and running in 40 countries with many more projected to go live. With this major achievement, underpinning its growing stature, Esquire Systems was expected to direct many of its projects from the Middle East to the development centre.

Mr Nair said the company was looking to add another 300 staff to handle the present projects on hand in their Chennai centre alone.

The company would be setting up another 20,000 sq ft facility in the next quarer with plans to add another 15,000 sq ft by the end of this year.
