Construction companies concerned over remarks by Vayalar Ravi
Dubai, May 9 (UNI) Construction companies in Dubai have expressed concern over remarks by Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi that New Delhi wants to discourage blue-collar workers from going abroad.
In UAE, where almost 80 per cent workers are from India, the construction industry sources said the country would need regular flow of workers for at least five to seven years more.
They say that there is a need to monitor labour supplies to ensure that they are paid wages of Dhs 600 (Rs 7,400) to Dhs 750 (Rs 9,200) which is the minimum fixed for skilled and unskilled workers.
Dubai is greatly dependent on Indian labour and their supply shortage would affect projects, the sources said.
