CCEA approves Amlohri Opencast Expansion Project

New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) The Cabinet Commitee on Economic Affairs today gave its approval for sanctioning of Amlohri Opencast Expansion Project of Northern Coalfields Limited from 4 million tonnes per year to 10 million tonnes per year for additional capital investment of Rs 1352.04 crore for Departmental implementation of both coal production and overburden removal.

Briefing newspersons on the outcome of the CCEA meeting, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told newspersons the decision also involves floating and approval of tenders for outsourcing additional removal for first three years and also outsourcing additional Shovel Domper OB removal on long term basis and for floating tenders for procurement of equipment for Departmental operations.

He said additional coal production will meet demand of second phase of Rihand State Thermal Power Station of NTPC.

The Amlohri Opencast Porject is located in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh.
