Visually challenged caste vote in Pondicherry
Pondicherry, May 8(UNI) A good number of visually chgallenged voters in Pondicherry and Karaikal utilised the Braille signage facility to exercise their franchise in the second and final phase of Assembly elections today.
District election officer Theva Neethi Das told newspersons here that though the department could not give the exact figure of these voters, it was widely welcomed. This is the first time the commission introduced the facility here, he added.
The visually challenged voters were provided with a Braille chart with the name and number of the candidates. The numbers written in braille letter on special electronic voting machines fecilitated voting, he said.
