UP heatwave toll reaches 24
Lucknow, May 8 (UNI) Three more heatwave deaths were reported in the last 24 hours in Uttar Pradesh taking the toll so far at 24.
Jhansi and Lalitpur accounted respectively for two and one fresh deaths, reports reaching here said.
Jhansi recorded the maximum temperature of 46 degrees Celsius, which was 3 degrees above normal.
Roads remained deserted in the district during daytime, since people prefer to stay indoors owing to scorching sun.
Meanwhile, the UP Capital recorded a maximum of 39 degrees.
The met office has forecast no respite from heatwave conditions for the time being.
In the last 24 hrs, the weather remained mainly dry throughout the state. Velocity winds, however, are likely at sporadic places.
Due to persisting power crisis in UP, the problems of the people is compounded with long spells of scheduled and unscheduled rostering.
