Unique entrepreneural certificate course begins in J U

Kolkata, May 08 (UNI) The Centre for Quality Management System of Jadavpur University here is introducing a unique nine month certificate course aimed at creating young entrepreneurs under the present business environment.

Announcing the salient features of the new course, beginning from July 19, Professor Sadhan K. Ghosh, Programme Coordinator, CQM here today said the new course had been developed in such a manner that it would help develop a potential businessman into a sucessful ntrepreneur in the present environment " within a short span of time but without any shortcut method".

He said since the industrialisation policy of the state government had turned out to be very successful with lot of fresh investments coming from outside the state, a lot of interest had been generated among the youth to harness the huge business potential in different sectors including I T, servicing and manufacturing.

He said the core curiculum of the programme would centre around basic instruction in what it takes to start and operate a unit successfully through proper training, by formulating a strategy and writing a basic plan on marketing, finance and raising capital.

Referring to the quality of the Faculty of the new course, Prof Ghosh said a sizeable number of senior and successful entrepreneurs from different sectors, including the Managing Directors of WEBEL and Power Max, would form the main faculty of the courses apart from senior professors from the Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and Pharmaceutical departments of the University.

About the course fee, Prof Ghosh said though the total fee had been fixed at Rs 40,000, it would be payable in two instalments of Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000 within nine months.

To a query about the minimum benchmark for any student to qualify for the new course, Prof Ghosh said though all students securing more than 65 per cent in Higher Secondary or any equivalent examinations could enroll their names, " we would prefer those who already did their graduation or the masters with an eye for IT and Servicing sectors".

On the number of students, he said initially they were expecting about 90 students in the very first year with the possibility of enrolling more in every subsequent year.

Besides classroom classes, enough provisions had been made to give the students necessary exposure on the field jobs, Prof Ghosh said replying to another query.
