Trade fair for SHG artisans from May 11

Bhopal, May 8: To provide marketing facility to self-help groups (SHGs) across the country, a fortnight-long Saras Mela (trade fair) will be held here at 'Bhopal Haat' from May 11.

Commodities which give a state-specific identity will be given prominence at the 'Saras Mela' being organised for the second year in succession.

''The Mela is being organised with a view to make available the market for sale of products prepared by self-help groups of poor masses in the remote areas,'' official sources said.

About 500 SHGs from 40 districts and 15 states participated in the 'Saras Mela' last year.

The fair held last year witnessed a great response since all products presented by the SHGs were sold out, the sources added.
