TN Minister's aide hacked to death

Tindivanam, May 8 (UNI) In a post-poll violence, an attempt was made on the life of Tamil Nadu Education and Commercial Taxes Minister C V Shanmugam and his aide was hacked to death here tonight.

Police said a group of armed gang, believed to be volunteers of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), made an attempt on the life of Mr Shanmugam at his residence here.

As the Minister escaped to safety, locking himself in a room, the gang members, resorted to indiscriminate attack, hacking to death the Minister's aide, while inflicting cut injuries to others who were present in the Minister's residence.

The victim has been identified as Murugandam.
