New Delhi, May 8 (UNI) A local court today rejected the bail plea of Vijender Rana, accused in the sensational Navy War Room leak case.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Seema Maini heard the bail plea of the accused and rejected it.
Earlier, on May 1, the Government had revoked the passport of Ravi Shankaran, a kin of Navy Chief Arun Prakash, to pave way for his deportation from London on the advice of the CBI.
Another accused, former Naval Commander Kulbushan Parashar, along with several others have already been arrested by the CBI in the case.
On April 6, several months after the sensational 'pilfering' of classified documents from the Naval War Room, the CBI had arrested five people, including three former Naval officers, and raided 17 places across six cities.
The other four arrested were ex-Naval Commanders Virender Rana (Delhi) and V K Jha (Muzaffarpur) who were arrested on April 5 along with two civilians, Bajaj and Jaiswal (both arrested from Pune on April 6).
In total, nine people had been accused in the case under the Official Secrets Act. Besides the five arrested, four others were Lt Cdr (Retd) Ravishankaran, Wing Cdr (Retd) S K Kohli, Ex Wing Cdr (IAF) Sambhajee L Surve and Ex Captain (Navy) Kashyap Kumar.
