MCX index closes at 2376.51, down 14.14 pts

Mumbai, May 8 (UNI) Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) recorded a turnover of Rs 3139.36 crore at the close of trading hour today.

The index closed at 2376.51, down by 14.14 points (-0.59 per cent). The total trades registered were 50,645.

The MCX metal index closed at 2819.48, down 24.81 points (-0.88 per cent), while its agri index was the lone gainer and closed at 1663.80, up 7.71 points (0.46 per cent). MCX energy index was at 2646.24, down 25.33 points (-0.96 per cent).

The combined MCX bullion registered a turnover of Rs 2088.47 crore, including various MCX gold Rs 1321.73 crore and MCX silver Rs 766.74 crore. The total trades recorded for the MCX bullion were 23,261. The open interest for gold was 10,137 kg, while the outstanding position for silver was 341,230 kg.

In the metals segment, MCX copper registered a turnover of Rs 358.13 crore with 7,578 trades, while MCX aluminium and zinc recorded a turnover of Rs 38.06 crore with 1,260 trades and Rs 80.30 crore with 942 trades respectively.

In the energy segment, crude oil contracts showed a turnover of Rs 131.24 crore with open interest of 902,400 BBL.

Turnover of some of the major pulses traded on the MCX were as follows -- urad registered a turnover of Rs 47.58 crore with 1,136 trades, chana registered a turnover of Rs 59.90 crore with 1,380 trades, tur recorded a turnover of Rs 11.25 crore with 423 trades, and masur registered a turnover of Rs 12.03 crore with 324 trades.

Meanwhile, potato recorded a turnover of Rs 120.14 crore with 5,092 trades, while mentha oil registered a turnover of Rs 46.84 crore with 2,562 trades.

MCX Gold June 06 closed at Rs 9,999, down by Rs 46 (-0.46 per cent), while August closed at Rs 10,151 down by Rs 30 (-0.30 per cent), and October closed at Rs 10,335 up by Rs 15 (0.15 per cent).

MCX Silver July 06 closed at Rs 21,084 down by Rs 300 (-1.42 per cent), September closed at Rs 21,748 down by Rs 189 (-0.87 per cent) and December closed at Rs 22,285 up by Rs 185 (0.83 per cent).
