Low voter turnout in Deeg bypoll

Bharatpur, May 8 (UNI) Low voter turnout marked the Deeg assembly bypoll in Rajasthan's Bharatpur district today with 14 per cent votes being cast till 1100 hrs.

According to state election control room, polling has been peaceful so far. There have been no reports of any untoward incidents from any place in the constituency.

Eleven area magistrates and 21 sector magistrates have been posted in the area especially for the bypoll. The Election Commission has appointed two supervisors in Deeg to monitor the election.

To maintain law and order during the poll process, apart from 20 mobile police units posted in the entire area, each poll booth has three policemen.

Policemen of the level of superintendent and deputy superintendent have been posted in 30 sensitive and highly senstitive polling booths.

The Deeg bypoll has been necessitated by the death of legislator Arun Singh of Indian National Lok Dal.

This time the fight is between BJP's Diyva Singh, a scion of the Bharatpur royal family and Congress's Laxman Singh.
