First-ever Gujarat Common Entrance Test results declared
Ahmedabad, May 8 (UNI) Gujarat Secondary Education Board (SEB) today announced results of the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET-2006) for admission to under-graduate courses in professional colleges in the state.
GCET result was declared simultaneously with that of Higher Seconday Certificate (HSC).
It was for the first time that Gujarat conducted written entrance test on April 15 last for admission exclusively to medical, engineering, pharmaceutical and other professional colleges, for academic year beginning June 2006. The state government had entrusted the task of conducting GCET also to SEB.
Earlier, the sole criterion for admission to professional colleges was marks scored in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology (PCMB) at the HSC Science Stream Examination.
Now onwards, admission to such professional colleges will be on the basis of combined merit-list on the basis of 60 per cent of HSC and 40 per cent of GCET marks.
