Centre not to cancel Tagadi power project: Shinde
Bangalore, May 8 (UNI) Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde today assured that the Tagadi ultra power project in Karwar will not be cancelled, following an assurance given by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Light Museum and Energy Centre here, he said the Centre would go ahead with the project as the Chief Minister had assured to address all issues raised by environmentalists, opposing the project.
It may be recalled that the Minister had yesterday said Karnataka might lose the ultra power project following stiff opposition from the locals and environmentalists.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kumaraswamy appealed to the Minister not to take any adverse decision on the project.
Later, speaking to newspersons, he said he would convene a meeting of all those environmental organisations/activists and Valli mutt pontiff, spearheading the agitation against the project, and exuded confidence about convincing them. The project would be a reality at any cost, he added.
