Akalis hold dharnas in Punjab
Jalandhar, May 8 (UNI) The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today held demonstrations and staged 'dharnas' at all district headquarters to protest against the government's alleged anti-people's policies and apathy towards miseries and demands of farmers.
The SAD activists gathered at all the district administrative complexes in the state, staged 'dharnas' and shouted anti government slogans. The protestors were led by senior leaders of the party who later submitted memorandums to the respective Deputy Commissioners listing the failures of the state government.
SAD chief and former chief minister Prakash Singh Badal led the dharna at Muktsar town. He lambasted the state government and claimed that Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had failed on all fronts.
Former MP Balbir Singh, office bearers of the party's Jalandhar unit and large number of workers participated in the dharna outside the district administration complex here. In Amritsar SAD MP Rattan Singh and Raj Mohinder Singh Majitha, Rajya Sabha member led the protestors and later submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
Balbir Singh Maini led the dharna at Hosiarpur while at Kapurthala Bibi Jagir Kaur, a former SGPC led the protest.
