A Pakistani soldier arrested in Kargil
Srinagar, May 8 (UNI) Troops of 21 Bihar Regiment (BR) arrested a Pakistani soldir immediately after he crossed over to this side from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK) in Batalik sector, official sources said today.
However, another reports said the Pak soldier identified as Abdul Razaq surrendered before the troops at Kargil after crossing through Batalik sector.
Sources said the Pak soldier entered into this side in Batalik sector, which hit the international headlines during Kargil war, yesterday. However, he was arrested by the troops of BR.
He has been shifted to Leh today for interrogation, sources said.
They said during questioning Razaq has said that he was working with Chitral scouts, stationed in Askardu.
Razaq said his officers were harassing him and other jawans forced him to desert his batallion.
This is for the first time that a Pak soldier crossed over to this side and was arrested by Indian army after 1999 Kargil war when Pakistani intruders occupied the majority heights in the area for about six months before they were pushed back to other side of the border by the army.
