70 per cent polling in 21 constituencies till evening

Pondicherry, May 8 (UNI) An estimated 70 percent of the 6.13 lakh voters exercised their franchise by 1600 hrs in the second and final phase of polling to the territorial assembly today.

As many as 21 constituencies in Pondicherry and six in Karaikal region went to polls in the second and final phase.

Polling was peaceful with no untoward incidents reported from any region.

Mahe, Palloor and Yanam constituencies went to poll in the first phase on May 3.

The second phase poll will decide the fate of 199 candidates, including three former Chief Ministers.
