Vasco holds Army XI

Bangalore, May 7 (UNI) Vasco held Army XI to a 1-1 draw in the second division of the ONGC Cup 10th National Football League here today.

In a keenly contested match, both the teams scored a goal each in the first half. For Army XI, forward Ramachandran gave the lead in the third minute when he netted the ball, headed by Vijay Thapa.

However, the joy of the Armymen did not last long as Vasco's Jo Carvolho drew party in the 11th minute.

The Armymen tried to come back into the game, but they wasted many chances that came their way.

With this draw, Army XI collected eight points from five matches and virtually went out of contention for qualifying into the next stage. Vasco registered their second draw and increased their point tally to two.
