Union Minister refuses comment on Telangana

Vijayawada, May 7 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Dasari Narayana Rao today refused to comment on the formation of separate Telangana.

Talking to newsmen here, the Minister said the issue had been left to AICC President Sonia Gandhi and the party will abide by her decision.

Mr Rao also said the results of the forthcoming panchayat election will not be a referendum on the two-year-old Congress Government.

Commenting on the irrigation initiative undertaken by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, he said farmers will largely benefit from it.

The Congress Government will implement the promises made to the people prior to the Assembly elections, Mr Rao said.
