Ten die in sun stroke in Orissa
Bhubaneswar, May 7 (UNI) At least 10 people have so far died due to sun stroke in Orissa as major parts of the state witnessed a rise in day temperatures for the last one week.
The State Revenue Control room here has so far received reports of 39 deaths because of sun stroke during the past one week.However, 10 of them has been confirmed dead by the district collectors.
Three people died in Angul district, followed by two in Sambalpur district while one each died in Bolangir, Cuttack, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur and Ganjam districts.
Met office sources said the state is yet to experience heat wave conditions but several parts of Orissa, mostly western Orissa had been experiencing a sharp rise in day temperatures.
The industrial town, Jharsugura recorded the highest day temperature of 42.6 degrees Celsius followed by Sambalpur 40.4 degree Celsius.
The sizzling temperature in many parts of coastal Orissa has affected normal life, with people preferring to remain indoors fearing sun stroke.
