SCR targets Rs 405 crore on freight

Vijayawada, May 7 (UNI) The Vijayawada Division of South- Central Railway (SCR)has set a target to earn Rs 405.63 crore by transporting 9.30 million tonnes of freight during 2006-2007, according to official sources.

It was Rs.313.73 crore from 7.17 million tonnes in the last fiscal.

Out of the total, Rs 120 crore came from Kakinada port. The coal reaching the port from Australia and Indonesia will be sent by train to Chennai and other parts of the country. Similarly, iron ore from Hospet in Karnataka will be shipped to China and Japan.
