Prisoner manages release producing fake bail paper

Rajkot, May 7 (UNI) Rajkot jail authorities have lodged fresh complaints against an undertrial who managed to secure his release by producing fake bail order eleven months ago.

The incident came to light when the Ahmedabad Court ordered the Rajkot jailor to produce the accused in the court.

Mohamad Mehtab Mahamadyasin Sayeed who was brought to the jail on May 11, last year, after he was arrested by the Ahmedabad Police on charges of Immoral Traffic Act and Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act (PASA), managed to secure his releease from the jail after producing fake bail paper (bail order) of the Ahmedabad Metropolitan Court-ll.

According to the complaint lodged at the Praduman Nagar Police station here last evening by the Jailor of Rajkot district Jail Jasubhai Dabhi two weeks later, one Kadar Kasam had produced the bail order to the Rajkot jailor on May 29, 2005 and on the basis of the paper, he was released, the police said.

Mohamad did not appear in the court despite the order to produce the accused. Later, an inquiry made by the court about his absence found that the accused had been released on bail.

After verification of the documents, it was found that they were bogus and the signature of the judge was also fake, police said.

Police are investigating into the incident.
