NBA ignoring basic problems those affected by of SSP

Bhopal, May 7 (UNI) All India Freedom Fighters Federation National President and former MP Shashi Bhushan Vajpayee has accused Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) leader Medha Patkar of ignoring the basic problems of those affected by the Sardar Sarovar Project. Mr Vajpayee told reporters here today that NBA leaders were working with the help of foreign powers towards the welfare of contractors, big farmers and those encroaching land.

He said poor tribals in the affected region were forced to live life of bonded labour as their lands were mortgaged to big farmers and local moneylenders.

Mr Vajpayee demanded that the tribals be freed from bonded labour.

Extending support to the proposed reservation policy by Union Human Resources Devecopment Minister Arjun Singh, he said political parties opposed to the policy must present their views before the Parliament.

He added that it was sad that while the political parties supported reservation in Parliament, they encouraged their children to oppose reservation.
