MCX COMDEX up by 61.57 points
Mumbai, May 7: The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) COMDEX was up by 61.57 points (2.59 per cent) during the week, while MCX recorded a total weekly turnover of Rs 40,579.63 crore for the period April 28 to May four,2006. The MCX metal index was up by 201.75 points (7.17 per cent) while MCX agri index was up by 4.20 points (0.25 per cent) and MCX energy index was the lone loser down by 21.24 points (-0.80 per cent).
MCX gold registered a turnover of Rs 18,305.34 crore while MCX silver have recorded a turnover of Rs 15,566.85 crores. The outstanding open interest for all contracts of MCX gold was 9,517 kg and the total volume recorded was 1,87,255 kg. The outstanding position for all MCX silver contracts for the week was 3,02,100 kg and the total volume recorded was 74,21,890 kg.
In the metal segment all MCX copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs 2,356.89 crore with open interest of 5,345 tons and recorded total volume of 70,657 tons, while all MCX zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs 599.47 crore with open interest of 9,665 tons and reocrded 38,720 tons as total volume.
In the energy segment all MCX crude oil contracts showed a turnover of Rs 1,709.97 crore with open interest of 8,75,600 BBL and total volume recorded was 52,13,400 BBL.
Turnover fo some of the major pulses traded on the MCX was : Urad contract registered a turnover of Rs 358.90 crore with open interest of 12,980 tons and total volume recorded was 1,19,340 tons.
Chana contracts recorded a turnover of Rs 139.31 crore with open interest of 16,200 tons and total volume recorded was 57,720 tons.
Mentha oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs 228.12 crore with open interest of 24,48,000 kg and total volume recorded was 56,16,400 kg.
Refined soy oil contracts with open interest of 26,600 ton registered a turnover of Rs 746.85 crore and total volume recorded was 1,77,020 ton.
