Inter-party clash after elections

Durgapur, May 07 (UNI) Just after the conclusion of the fourth phase Assembly elections in Burdwan district, an inter-party clash between the Left Front constituents of the CPI and CPI(M) took place today under Andal police station.

CPI's gram panchayat member Baran Nandi's house was ranscaked by the CPI (M) activists. Sources said the activists were mainly from Bauripara. Police was posted after the incident, sources said.

Shisir Nandi, brother of Baran Nandi alleged that the CPI (M) activists attacked them because they were followers of the CPI.

On the other hand a CPI(M) member, Kartick Bauri alleged they treated us like slaves and 'it is the expression of sudden anger'.

Superintendent of Police of Burdwan Piyush Pandey said police had been posted in the area.

In another incident at Amlajora gram panchayat under Kanksa police station, a BJP panchayat member Biswanath Das was allegedly beaten up today by CPI(M) activists and was hospitalised. His house was also ransacked.

A complaint was lodged by the BJP members at Kanksa police station.
