Guj CM to participate in agrotech fair in Israel from tom

Ahmedabad, May 7 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will make a five-day visit to Israel to participate in the International Agrotech 2006, Global Exhibition and Business Forum on Agriculture Co-operation from tomorrow.

The exhibition has been held with joint co-operation between India and Israel between May 8 and 14.

The Indian delegation will be led by Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar. Mr Pawar will be joined by Chief Ministers of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Nagaland and high-powered delegation of the Union Agriculture Ministry, an official release said here today.

Mr Modi, who is also a chairman of the working sub-group of the dry land and watershed development commissioned by the National Development Council, will be accompanied by Mr M C Vavshneya, vice-chancellor of Anand Agriculture University, Mr V Thirupuggal, secretary to chief minister and about 100 progressive farmers from the state.

The five-day tour of Mr Modi will open a few vista for mutual cooperation between Israel and Gujarat as there is much in common between the two. The Israel is being looked as a role model for Gujarat in dry land farming and water conservation.

During the Exhibition, Mr Modi will make presentation for exploring the options for knowledge transfer and technology transfer in agriculture and allied activity. An action plan for mutual co-operation is also being prepared, the release added.
