Ex-army man sets daughter on fire

Akola, May 7 (UNI) An ex-armyman was arrested for murdering his 16-year-old daughter by her on fire for refusing to have sex with him.

The crime was reported from Chichkhed Wayal village in Deulgaon Raja taluka of Buldhana district early yesterday.

Gulab Nivruti Kakade, an ex-armyman forcibly assaulted his daughter Rama, from his first wife, to have sex with him. But when she resisted, Kakade set her ablaze in a fit of rage, she said in her dying declaration to the police.

She died at a hospital in Aurangabad. She had sustained 95 per cent burn injuries.

Rama was living with her grand father at Mandwa village in Lonar taluka of Buldhana district.

In 1993, the accused had killed his first wife too by setting her on fire. Later he married for the second time and had brought his daughter Rama, from his first wife along with him under the pretext of arranging her marriage with a teacher, police said. Besides, he was dismissed from Army too.

On the basis of a complaint filed by his father Nivruti Rama Kakade, the ex-army man was arrested u/s 302 for murder. Further investigation is on, police added.
