Two committed suicide, four arrested

Davanagere, May 07 : In a gruesome incident two sisters married to two brothers of a same family were committed suicide unable to meet the demands of their in-laws for bringing dowry at Alagilawala village in Harapanahalli Taluk yesterday.

According to police sources the victims of the dowry harassment were identified as Drakshayaniyamma (25) and Smt Sakamma (23) were married to two brothers of a same family two years back and were allegedly being harassed from their husbands and in-laws to bring more dowry.

Unable to overcome the harassment the sisters decided commit suicide and reportedly consumed poison to end their life.

Registering a dowry harassment death the Harapanahalli police have arrested both the husbands and also in-laws into the incident and were sent to Judicial custory for 14 days.
