Death sentence for human sacrifice

Sagar, MP, May 7 : A district and sessions court has sentenced a 'tantrik' to death for sacrificing a child in an attempt to ''discover'' buried wealth.

Additional Judge M M A Ansari yesterday awarded the punishment to Mahesh Kurmi (36), a resident of Damoh district's Sihore Padria village.

According to prosecution, Kurmi slew Aabchand village-resident Chhatarsingh's son Shreekant (2) on October 20, 2004 during 'Navratri'. At that time, Kurmi used to conduct exorcism rituals at Aabchand.

The corpse was found by police in a forest and hocus pocus-related material seized from the accused's home.
