US copter crashes on combat operation in Afghan

Kabul, May 6: A U S CH-47 Chinook helicopter crashed while on combat operations in eastern Afghanistan, the U S military said today, adding there was no word on the fate of the nine passengers and crew on board.

The crash, late last evening near Asadabad, capital of of Kunar province, was not as a result of enemy fire, the U S military said.
