Pattabhirama Reddy passes away
Bangalore, May 6: Eminent Kannada and Telugu Film producer T Pattabhirama Reddy died here this morning.
He was 87 and is survived by a son Konark Reddy and a daughter Nandana Reddy.
Reddy is a recipient of the 'Puttana Kanagal' award from Karantaka government for his lifetime achievement to the state film industry.
'Samaskara', produced and directed by Reddy, had won the Kannada Film Industry its first golden lotus National award. He had produced three Telugu Films including 'Pellinatu Pramanagalu' which won the Andhra Pradesh state film award.
As a revolutinary poet in Telugu, he had written three volumes of poems.
Born in Madanapalli in Andhra Pradesh, Reddy was the husband of late theatre personality Snehalata Reddy.
Known for his offbeat and art films, Reddy's other films in Kannada included 'Shringara Masa' in which there were only two a ctors, Amol Palekar and Deepa Dhanraj. His film 'Devara Kadu' had won the national award on environmental films. His other prominent film was 'Chenda Marutha'.
