MPP MLA expelled from party

Imphal, May 6 (UNI) Manipur Peoples' Party president L Borajao has expelled Dr Nimaichand Luwang MLA from the primary memebership of the party.

The Manipur Peoples' Party, Democratic Revolutionary Peoples Party and Federal Party of Manipur have decided to merge together to form a single party.

The MPP has been embroiled in a controversy after the presidential election held in December last and former party president, O Joy, MLA, refusing to recognise the new president on the grounds of faulty election process.

Mr O Joy and Dr Nimaichand Luwang had announced the election as null and void and said Mr Joy continues to be the president of the party. The division in the party had made the supporters violent with both groups resorting to fisticuffs.
