Leave Rae Bareli: EC to Rahul, Sonia, leaders
New Delhi, May 06: The Election Commission has issued notice to Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi, among other leaders, to leave Rae Bareli constituency by 5:00 p.m. today. Elections in Rae Bareli are due in May 8 since Congress president Sonia Gandhi is seeking re-election from the constituency after resigning as MP, following the "office of profit" controversy.
Sonia Gandhi, Bharatiya Janata Party's Vinay Katiyar and Samajwadi Party's Rajkumar Choudhary also received the notice.
The EC ordered that political functionaries, who are not voters, have to leave the constituency immediately after the electioneering gets over today.
The EC has also ordered to remove all posters from government buildings, hoardings and banners, which have been posted without the permission of the municipal corporation.
Priyanka Vadra can stay back in Rae Bareli since she has been appointed as Sonia Gandhi's election agent.
