EC orders functionaries to quit constituencies after campaign

Chennai, May 6 (UNI) The Election Commission has directed political functionaries, who have been provided with security by the State, not to remain in constituencies in which they are not electors after the period of campaigning was over.

In a statement here, State Chief Electoral Officer Naresh Gupta said such political functionaries should also restrict their movement in the constituencies in which they are bonafide electors on the day of the poll before and after they cast their votes.

The Commission had clarified that these instructions would not be applicable to the candidates or their election agents.
