Dr K G Karmakar appointed as NABARD MD

Mumbai, May 6 (UNI) Dr K G Karmakar presently Executive Director, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, (NABARD) has been appointed as Managing Director from yesterday .

Dr Karmakar holds a doctorate in management from University of Bombay and Post Graduate degree in Financial management.

According to a press release, with over thirty years of professional experience as an Executive in various banking and financial institutions such as State Bank of India, Reserve Bank and NABARD, Dr Karmakar has specialised in Agriculture/ rural credit, corporate planning, micro credit, project management and rural infrastructure development .

He has also recently visited Isreal and Germany to study hi-tech agriculture and co-operative banking reforms. Besides numerable articles on rural credit and development banking, Dr Karmakar has penned three pioneering books on ''Agriculture Project managment for Banks'', rural credit, micro finance, and ''The Silenced Drums,'' the release said.
