Congress takes strong exception to Buddhadeb's statement
Kolkata, May 6 (UNI) The West Bengal Congress today took strong exception to Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's recent statement that the ruling government would fulfil A B A Ghani Khan Chowdhury's incomplete work in Malda.
Mr Bhattacharjee, said at a recent election rally, that Mr Chowdhury has contributed a lot for the development of Malda and the state government would fulfil his incomplete work.
''It is an election gimmick and anti-people stance,'' West Bengal Congress working president Pradip Bhattacharjee told mediapersons here.
The PCC working president criticised the Chief Minister's statement and said, ''We are strongly opposing the statement and Mr Khan Chowdhury's incomplete work would be completed by the Centre and the Congress's elected MLA. We do not need the ruling Left Front government's help.'' ''Why the Left Front government did not contribute towards development of Malda when Mr Khan Chowdhury was alive?'' Mr Bhattacharjee questioned.
To a query about the Maoists, West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Manas Bhuiya said, ''The Maoists were a creation of the CPI(M) because the North Bengal district was deprived by the ruling party.'' UNI AKM JYN/TJP YA VV1936
