CM promises befitting memorial for Latchanna

Hyderabad, May 6 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today announced a befitting memorial for Sardar Gouthu Latchanna, a noted freedom fighter and champion of the Backward classes.

Taking part in an all-party condolence meet here, Dr Reddy extolled the virtues and contributions of Latchanna, who had led several agitations against the British, movements for social justice and struggle for the weaker sections in his eight-decade long political career.

''In consultation with his family members, a suitable memorial will be constructed for the great leader'', he added.

Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu said Latchanna was a selfless leader who struggled all through his life for the deprived sections and was never after power.
