Cash for vote; VAO arrested

Chidambaram, May 6 : A Village Administrative Officer (VAO) was arrested last night on the charge of bribing voters in favour of the ruling AIADMK, police said today.

Police said that Kulanjinathan,of Kavalakudy village near here, influenced the villagers to vote for the AIADMK by distributing cash. Following a complaint from cadres of the Pattali Makkal Katchi, top police officials rushed to the spot and caught the VAO red-handed.

The errant official has been suspended.
