Anup Pujari appointed Karnataka IT Secretary
Bangalore, May 06: MK Shankaralinge Gowda who served as secretary, IT and biotechnology, Government of Karnataka from 2004 till date, has been posted as Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) commissioner.
This comes in the wake of a series of reshuffles of 91 senior administrative officers, announced in Bangalore yesterday by the HD Kumaraswamy-led state government.
Dr Anup K Pujari has been appointed as the new IT secretary. He was managing director, Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation.
Gowda's two-year term as IT secretary was an eventful and successful one. He played mediator between the state government and the industry captains when the latter criticized the state's inaction about the appalling state of Bangalore's infrastructure.
Gowda was also instrumental in promoting tier-two destinations in Karnataka such as Mysore, Manipal, Mangalore and Hubli. Gowda seems to have ended his stint as secretary on a high note. Earlier this week, the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) brought out the impressive showing of Karnataka's IT exports-a whopping Rs 37,600 crore in software exports (36 percent growth over last year) in 2005-06.
