Vote out AIADMK Govt: Sonia
Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, May 5 (UNI) Launching a broadside against the ruling AIADMK, Congress President Sonia Gandhi today called upon the people to vote out the ''corrupt and autocratic Government'' and free themselves from its clutches.
Addressing an election rally in support of the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) candidates here, Ms Gandhi, on her second leg of campaign in Tamil Nadu, said the people would very soon have a chance to vote out the AIADMK Government and free themselves from the clutches of the corrupt and autocratic government.'' Thanking the people of the state for giving a massive mandate for the DPA in the Lok Sabha elections two years ago, she said this helped the Congress to form the UPA Government at the Centre and called on the people to once again give a similar mandate to the DPA in the May eight Assembly elections.
''The DPA Government in the state will truly be concerned and address the needs of the industries, weavers, fishermen and weaker sections of the society,'' she promised.
Accusing the Jayalalithaa regime of being autocratic, she said the government was needlessly confronting the Centre and appealed to the people to elect the DPA for overall development of the state.
