UPDS leader arrested

Kohima May 5 : Acting on specific information, the joint police forces of Asom and Nagaland have arrested the Joint Secretary (Home) of the United Peoples Democratic Solidarity (UPDS), an underground outfit of Karbi Anglong district of Asom.

Official sources said here today UPDS leader Dhonsing Teron was arrested in Dimapur yesterday on the basis of the phone calls he had made to a pharmacist of Golaghat demanding ransom. The police raided the hideout of the outfit and arrested him.

Asom police have taken him in custody for further interrogation, the sources said.
